Check out Ben Kayiranga remix of ‘Ngwino’ after 26 years

In an interview with one local news outlet, he revealed that the remix project was AmaG’s idea and had been in the pipeline for a few years before they embarked on it last December.

While making ‘Freedom’, Kayiranga says, he wanted to encourage Rwandans in the diaspora across the world to return home and play a role in rebuilding the country after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

“AmaG said Ngwino is an all-time favourite song, and it’s the one that inspired him to join the music industry,” said Kayiranga. “We began working on the remix in December 2021 when I visited Rwanda.”

The ‘Freedom’ hitmaker also revealed that, besides both being artistes, him and AmaG share a lot more in common, noting that he is an electrician in France whereas AmaG deals in fridge maintenance in Rwanda.

France-based Rwandan musician, Ben Kayiranga, has released a remix of his legendary song ‘Ngwino’, 26 years after dropping the original version in Belgium.

Kayiranga says he originally composed Ngwino in 1996, along with ‘Freedom’ – another timeless hit.

The remake also features local rapper AmaG The Black, born Amani Hakizimana, producer Ayo Rash and rising female singer Mary Igena.
